
Roger is the Lead Portfolio Manager and senior founding partner of Riley Thompson Wealth Advisors, bringing more than four decades of experience to the firm he helped establish. He began his career in 1983 at Dean Witter, now known as Morgan Stanley, where he developed a strong foundation in portfolio management.
Over the years, Roger has refined his expertise in individual stock selection and municipal bond strategies. In 2011, he expanded his capabilities into comprehensive financial planning by earning the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation, further enhancing the guidance he provides to clients.
Roger’s extensive tenure offers a seasoned perspective shaped by navigating multiple market cycles. He has guided clients through significant events including the Black Monday crash of 1987, the Gulf War in 1991, the dot-com bubble of 2000, and the financial crisis of 2008–2009, helping them stay focused on long-term goals through periods of uncertainty.
Outside the office, Roger enjoys scuba diving and underwater photography, often exploring 50 feet below the ocean’s surface. He and his wife of nearly 50 years take great pride in the family they’ve built, including their two adult children and three grandchildren.
